About HopeBot.org

HopeBot.org offers the public a chatbot with a mission.

Everyone could use a little more hope about the future. Life is tough sometimes. To some of us most of the time — and perhaps to all of us some of the time — it can seem that we are on our own, left to fend for ourselves over a life span that is far too short. To others, God is seen as offering approved groups a path to a joyful eternal life, but with lots of conditions and no second chances, such that only some of those we care about will find it in time.

Both of these messages can sap our joy and strength, and hold us back from being the best versions of ourselves during our limited time on Earth.

Wouldn’t it be nice to believe that a good God has a good plan for each of us, and for our loved ones, that each of our lives is ultimately headed towards a good destination? Most people would consider that good news, but are skeptical that reality is like that, given both the prevailing narratives around us and some of the things we have observed with our own eyes. But what if it’s probably true, and there are good reasons for believing it? Wouldn’t that make you more joyful and less fearful? Wouldn’t it give you a longer-term perspective on life?

Hope the Chatbot is here to help you along that journey, wherever your starting point is.

An early version of this site went live in 2017, with an initial plan to focus on Facebook Messenger. It proved too difficult initially, so the project went into a long hiatus. Now, with tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT available, we are taking another shot at building a bot that can be genuinely helpful to people exploring faith questions in an anonymous, interactive format.

Hope is also available on Facebook Messenger. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
