Privacy Policy

Hope the Chatbot is a chatbot that has been deployed to Facebook Messenger.

Data about conversations you may have with Hope are logged in a database. This database is used to improve the performance of the chatbot, and to draw conclusions about human thinking and current beliefs in the aggregate.

In general, no personally identifying information about you is available to the chatbot (which tracks users based on a numerical identifier) or logged in the database. However, there are a few exceptions.

  • If you provide personal information voluntarily in the Messenger window in response to a question from the chatbot (e.g. “What shall I call you?”), it will be logged.
  • If you agree to provide location information (latitude/longitude, not very precise), or information about your age, gender, religious affiliation, etc., that will be logged too for demographic analysis and to help the chatbot offer a more useful experience.
  • Your Facebook profile name may be available visually to administrators of the Hope the Chatbot page on Facebook. However, no human will contact you through Hope the Chatbot without your explicit consent.

Feel free to contact admin at HopeBot dot org with any questions.
